About the role
As a Paramedic with Donald Martens & Sons Ambulance Service, you will be responsible for delivering advanced medical care in both emergent and non-emergent situations. This role requires a higher level of medical expertise, including intravenous medication administration, medication administration, advanced oxygen treatment, and advanced cardiac care. Working closely with EMTs, fellow paramedics, and hospital personnel, you will play a critical role in assessing, stabilizing, and transporting patients while providing exceptional care and customer service.
What You’ll Do:
Provide advanced emergency care, including airway management, cardiac monitoring, and medication administration according to established protocols.
Accurately assess the extent of illness or injury and obtain a thorough patient medical history.
Perform emergency medical interventions such as intubation, pulmonary ventilation, fracture immobilization, and wound management.
Address both the physical and emotional needs of patients, ensuring compassionate and professional care.
Handle radio communications and coordinate with the dispatch center to ensure efficient response and transport.
Safely transport patients to appropriate medical facilities, ensuring continued monitoring and care throughout the journey.
Document all patient assessments, treatments, and interventions accurately for communication with hospital staff and for proper billing.
Maintain emergency care equipment and ambulance supplies, ensuring readiness for each shift.
Assist in training new hires and participating in ongoing in-house training as needed.
What You Need:
Completion of an Approved Paramedic Training Program and a valid Ohio Paramedic License.
Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification (PALS must be obtained within six months of hire).
Strong knowledge of EMS operations, community disaster response, and Ohio health and safety codes governing pre-hospital care.
Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, and use computer systems for documentation.
A valid Ohio driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Previous experience preferred, but not required.
